If it's October, then it must be time to argue religion on the airwaves ….

My favorite Midwestern religious broadcaster — an amateur radio operator — has returned to the 75 meter phone band. And true to form, he apparentlly has set out to outrage as many people as he can.

Tom and a friend (sometimes two) show up about midnight on 75 meters, typically on 3944 kHz. His “QSOs” aren't conversations per se, but short broadcasts about religion and current events. He pauses periodically to allow one of his friends to ID and transmit something in agreement.

He enjoys bashing the Roman Catholic church, and he has proscribed nearly everything evil that's taken place in recorded history to the Jesuits or the Catholic church. Trust me, that's no exaggeration.

For example, tonight he was telling how Islam was created by the Catholic church as a weapon, to build an army to do the pope's bidding. The Masons were the creation of the Jesuits, he says, so that the church could build an army of supporters and send them into countries that had kicked out the Catholic church.

According to Tom, every ruler of every country shows allegience to the Pope. That's why the President has met with the pope regularly — to take orders from him.

Its been less than a year ago that Tom predicted there would never be a presidential election this year. Tom said that President Bush would suspend the Constitution in response to a terrorist attack and the Pope would crown Bush as a papal king. Bush would turn over the U.S. to the Pope, and everyone would be required to pledge allegience to the Catolic church or face severe punishment or death.

This is the same fellow who said that Pope John Paul II will rise from the grave as the Antichrist once the Church takes over.

We'll have to wait and see if there's an election next month. It doesn't matter anyway, Tom said tonight. All the candidates are controlled by Rome. It's not worth casting a vote. Luckily for me, when the Pope takes over the world, I'm already Catholic so I'm set to go. Perhaps I can get my application ready for a big swanky papal appointment?? Hmmm ….
