Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019 — I have a lot to write about but I’m having issues with the database that drives my website; I keep getting database errors. The hosting company says — naturally — all is well. My experience falls well short of that. Arg!
Briefly, an update on stuff —
SKN. I didn’t make any contacts this year; its a long story, but I didn’t have access to a straight key or bug with the appropriate cable. My shack entrance was basically blocked by household “stuff” because of our holiday parties. I just couldn’t bring myself to making contacts on SKN with a paddle. Just violates the spirit of Straight Key Night!
KEY COLLECTING. The only addition to the collection of note is the Speed0plex No. 2 that arrived via eBay on Dec. 24th. Unlike others I have seen, the key has a black crackle finish without carriage striping. Of course, there’s no nameplate, but the damper, pivot frame and the knurling make it clear this is a Speedoplex. Picturers to come.
