Antenna built, ready to hoist

Thursday, May 11, 2023

I have been off the air now for several months, but I’m just about ready to make my return.

I have a new antenna built; its actually out in the yard ready to hoist in the air. The hold up is that the support rope fell out of the tree — yes, the rope that I was protecting because it was in such a great position.

I couldn’t find my old slingshot, so I had to buy another. I have my fishing pole, lead weights and slingshot ready, and I should get the antenna up in the air in the next few days.

ARRL MEMBERSHIP. I keep getting mailers reminding me to renew my ARRL membership. The incentive? I can get a digital copy of the new Handbook.

As time goes by, I find that I need the ARRL less and less. The main incentive to renew is the ourgoing QSL bureau, I suppose. I don’t give a damn to read QST or any of the League publications.

Our new section manager is still working on reorganizing the state’s ARES setup. Best of luck to him.

My next report I’ll advise on how well my new antenna works. Hopefully it will stay up as long as the previous “temporary” antenna did, HI HI.
