Enjoying the Wolf, not the static …

QUICK UPDATE. I’m stil enjoying my 100 watt Wolf 998 SDR transceiver that recently arrived. I’m still learning its features, though one hinderance is that I’ve been unable to find a manual to help learn its operation.

I ordered and received some 3.5 mm stereo cables — six foot length – to connect an iambic key to the rig. The problem I had with trying to use a 1/4 to 3.5mm adapter was the adapter was too large to fit into the recess on the radio case for the CW key jack. I had to order a cable with a modern “thin” 3.5 mm connector. Last night I split the cable in half and added the cable to one of my Bencher BY-1 keys. Ahh, like butter!!

I continue to list and sell stuff on eBay … sold (reluctantly) a Heathkit 2040 antenna tuner, and sold a Vibroplex Lightning Bug tonight. I should use the proceeds to pay off my purchase of the Wolf xcvr. I’m tickled to death with the radio, and I’m considering putting my Yaesu FTDX 3000 for sale on ebay. I prefer my old IC-756PROII over the Yaesu, and the 3000 is just sitting under the bench collecting dust.

ANTENNA NOISE. I’m getting some pretty severe local static on whatever rig I try, ,and I think its due to a break in either the feedline or at the center of my dipole. The antenna has dropped some since our most recent wind storm, so I believe I’ll find some damage. Been raining nearly every day, not good weather for antenna work, lol!
